Technical connection: Download test cryptographic material

Overview

Purpose of this step

Once you have downloaded and deployed your test crypto material (certificates and keys), you can connect to the test environment. This will enable integration testing to take place.

Before you begin

Make sure you have the correct permissions and IT security settings on your device to download ZIP files. If you are unable to do this then you may need to contact your organisation’s IT service desk.

What you need to do in this step:

1. Download test crypto material.
2. Deploy test crypto material to your test endpoints.
3. Notify PDP that your test crypto material has been deployed.

1. Download test crypto material

On the connection portal, go to the ‘Download test crypto material’ page and click ‘Download’ – this will redirect you to our crypto generation service. Your crypto material (certificates and keys) will be immediately downloaded to your computer as a ZIP file. You will then be redirected back to the connection portal.

If your download does not complete and you are directed to an error page, a ticket will be logged on your behalf. You do not need to do anything else. If you do not see an error page, you need to report this through support.

2. Deploy test crypto material to your test endpoints

You must now deploy your crypto material to your test endpoints. For more information, please read our guidance on PKI and cryptographic materials. How you deploy your crypto material will be determined by your own architecture.

3. Notify PDP that your test crypto material has been deployed

Once you have deployed your test crypto material, you need to inform PDP through the connection portal.

1. Access the home page on the connection portal and click ‘Start process’.
2. Click ‘Confirm deployment’ to confirm that you have deployed your test crypto material.
3. You will receive confirmation by email.
4. PDP will then arrange integration testing with your test manager.
