- Industry should understand the user journey and what they need to do to support it
Collective effort by industry and Government means 96% of pension records covered by legislation will have connected to the pensions dashboards ecosystem by the deadline of 31 October 2026, the CEO of the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) has announced.
Speaking at the Pensions UK Annual Conference in Liverpool on 14 October 2026, Oliver Morley confirmed that subsequent connection of pension providers and schemes who have approved deferrals will take in-scope coverage to 100%. He took the opportunity to thank everyone across industry for their commitment and collaboration in reaching this significant milestone.
The MaPS CEO also urged industry to double-down on readiness in the run-up to the expected launch of the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard in financial year 2027/28. It is vital industry understands what dashboards users are going to contact their pension provider for.
At the same time, providers and schemes should ensure they can support the service. Early signs are encouraging, with directly connected organisations demonstrating they are achieving high availability. It is important to emphasise that connection is not the end of the journey for industry.
Mr Morley highlighted the increasing pace of testing the MoneyHelper dashboard which will assess performance as demand rises. MaPS has previously shared its findings from phase 1 and early phase 2 outcomes, and will be providing further updates and research in the coming months.
At the conference, the Pensions Dashboards Programme’s Industry Principal Chris Curry took part in a workshop on resolving partial matches of users to their pensions on a dashboard. Mr Curry was joined by Lucy Stone from The Pensions Regulator, Geraldine Brassett from PASA, and Nicky Day from Pensions UK.
Speaking at the conference, Oliver Morley said:
“We have an opportunity to deliver one of the biggest changes to pensions engagement in a generation, and what is likely to be one of the most significant fintech launches on the horizon.
“Working together, we can help millions of people better understand their pensions, reconnect with retirement savings they may have lost track of, and make more informed decisions about their future.”
