Before you begin
Consider what field you want to change and ensure you have the relevant, up-to-date information ready. You should consider when you need the change to be made.
You will need PDP review and approval to change:
- the connection date
- the connection status (for example, to disconnect a pension provider or scheme)
- an incorrectly entered holdername GUID
Do not change the holdername GUID once pension identifiers (PeIs) have been registered, unless it is absolutely necessary. If you have PeIs registered to the original holdername GUID, you will need to deregister all registered PeIs before you change the holdername GUID.
PDP’s review can take up to 5 working days.
You can make some changes using a CSV file upload. You will need to prepare a CSV file specific to the change you are making. Each section below includes how you must structure your CSV file. Review the section on how to update using a file upload for more information.
Back to topChange your pension provider or scheme name
Your pension provider or scheme name is a customisable field held against each pension provider or scheme record so you can identify and manage them. It is only used for your reference.
What you need to do:
- In the connection portal, click on the ‘Pension providers and schemes’ tab in the navigation bar.
- Use the search bar or pagination buttons to find the pension provider or scheme you would like to make changes to.
- Click on the pension provider or scheme name.
- Under ‘Overview’ and in the ‘Pension provider or scheme’ field, click ‘Change’.
- In the text field, enter the new pension provider or scheme name and then click 'Continue'.

If you have already added a new endpoint, then the change may still be pending approval. You will not be able to see endpoints with a pending status.

Change find data model
All pension provider or schemes are defaulted to ‘Data lake, assumed’ for their find data model. If this is not the case for a pension provider or scheme, you must inform PDP by changing the find model on the pension provider or scheme details page.
You will have the following options available for your find data model:
- Data Lake, confirmed by provider/scheme
- Direct Connection – not relevant
- Federated, remains within ISP software solution
- Federated outside of ISP environment to third party administrator’s own system
- Federated outside of ISP environment to provider or scheme’s own system

- The change has now been made.
Add a holdername GUID to a pension provider or scheme
A holdername GUID is a unique identifier used to reference a pension provider or scheme, or part of a pension provider or scheme. You can add additional holdername GUIDs to the same pension provider or scheme record. You may need to do this for the following reasons:
- pension data for a pension provider or scheme is held in 2 locations (that is, at 2 different endpoint URLs)
- the pension provider or scheme is being administered by more than one organisation, and you are connecting both organisations
- Part of the pension provider or scheme is going to be transferred
What you need to do
- In the connection portal, click on the 'Pension providers and schemes' tab in the navigation bar.
- Use the search bar or pagination buttons to find the pension provider or scheme you would like to make changes to.
- Click on the hyperlinked pension provider or scheme name.
- Under 'Holdername' section below the table click 'Add new holdername'.
- Read the information on the screen to understand what is required for this step.
- In the text field, enter the new holdername GUID for the given pension provider or scheme record and click 'continue'.
- Select which view endpoint URL and which PAT refresh endpoint URL you want the holdername GUID to be associate with. If you can’t see the endpoint URL listed on the screen, you need to add an additional endpoint. If you have already added a new endpoint, the change may still be pending approval.
- Click 'Continue' and review your submission.
- Click 'Submit'
Request a change to your connection date
Your connection date is the date when you want a pension provider or scheme to connect to the live environment. From this date, the pension provider or scheme is connected for legislative purposes. This triggers the rest of their duties that follow connection under the legislation. Pension identifiers (PeIs) will be registrable against the scheme’s holdernames and view requests can be received for these PeIs.
Pension providers and schemes should decide their connection date having regard to their ‘connect by’ date in DWP’s connection guidance. If you use this process, you do not also need to complete the change connection plans process.
You will only be able to request a change to the connection date before the pension provider or scheme is connected.
What you need to do
- In the connection portal, click on the 'Pension providers and schemes' tab in the navigation bar.
- Use the search bar or pagination buttons to find the pension provider or scheme you would like to make changes to.
- Click on the pension provider or scheme name.
- Under 'Overview' and in the 'Connection date' field, click 'Request change'.
- In the date field, enter the new connection date in the format DDMMYYYY. The request should be made 5 working days in advance of the new connection date.
- Click 'continue' and review the current and proposed changes to the pension provider or scheme’s connection date.
- Click 'Submit'.
Request a change to the connection status (disconnect a provider or scheme)
You can request that the pension provider or scheme be disconnected. Reasons for disconnection could include:
- The pension provider or scheme is wound up
- The part of the pension provider or scheme that you connect no longer has any relevant members
- The pension provider or scheme has moved into the Pension Protection Fund (PPF)
You must deregister all pension identifiers (PeIs) associated with the pension provider or scheme’s holdernames once disconnected. If they are moving to a new connection provider, you can use the transfer of schemes process.
What you need to do
- In the connection portal, click on the Pension providers and schemes' tab in the navigation bar.
- Use the search bar or pagination buttons to find the pension provider or scheme you would like to make changes to.
- Click on the pension provider or scheme name.
- Under 'Overview' and in the 'Status' field, click 'Request change'.
- In the text field, enter the reason for your request, for example 'The pensions provider or scheme has no relevant members remaining.'.
- In the date field, enter the date you want the pension provider or scheme to be disconnected from the live environment. The change will be made at 2am on the chosen date. Enter date in the format DDMMYYYY. This must be at least 5 working days in the future.
- Click 'Continue' and review the current and proposed changes to the pension provider and scheme connection status.
- Click 'Submit'.
If the pension provider or scheme is disconnected, no data should be processed on behalf of the pension provider or scheme.
You cannot register or update PeIs for a disconnected pension provider or scheme, however you will still be able to deregister PeIs for a disconnected pension provider or scheme.
Request a change to pension provider or scheme holdername GUID
The holdername GUID is a unique identifier used to reference a pension provider or scheme. Where you have entered a holdername GUID incorrectly, you can use this facility to amend it prior to any PEIs being registered. If you have pension identifiers (PeIs) registered to this holdername, you should not change it. If you must change the holdername GUID, registered PeIs must be deregistered before changing the holdername GUID.
What you need to do
- In the connection portal, click on the 'Pension providers and schemes' tab in the navigation bar.
- Use the search bar or pagination buttons to find the pension provider or scheme you would like to make changes to.
- Click on the hyperlinked pension provider or scheme name.
- Under 'Holdername' and in the 'Holdername GUID' field, click 'Request change'.
- Read the information on the screen to understand what is required for this step.
- In the text field, enter the new holdername GUID value for the given pension provider or scheme record and click 'continue'.
- In the date field, enter the date you want the holdername GUID to be updated. The change will be made at 2am on the chosen date. Enter date in the format DDMMYYYY.
- Click 'Continue' and review the current and proposed changes to the pension provider or scheme’s holdername GUID.
- Click 'Submit'.
You cannot deregister PeIs when the holdername GUID has been changed. You must deregister PeIs before the holdername GUID is changed.
Update using a CSV file upload
You can use a file upload to:
- change a pension provider or scheme name
- change the view endpoint associated with a holdername GUID
- change the PAT refresh endpoint associated with a holdername GUID

You cannot use a file upload to:
- request a change to the connection status
- request a change to the holdername GUID
You must ensure the CSV file is correctly structured for the type of change you are making.
All CSV files must follow the following format rules:
- the header row must contain the column headings as described in the CSV template provided
- line endings can be both windows style or unix style ('\r\n' or '\n') as that's been handled to normalise
- UTF-8 is the only format that the system supports
