Refining the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard consumer testing process

Consumer testing is one of the most valuable tools we have for building a MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard that works for everyone. Since testing began, we have learned a great deal about how people interact with the dashboard, and that learning continues to shape the service as we move closer to public launch.

From 1 September, we moved into a new stage of testing, with a simpler sign-up process and plans to grow testing volumes safely and steadily. Find out more and how you can get involved.

What we have learned so far

Testing began with a small number of internal participants and industry experts before moving into higher-volume, unmoderated testing with members of the public in March 2026. Since then, we have run 4 progressively larger tranches of testing, recruiting over 12,000 users to a testing panel and registering more than 11,000 pension matches for nearly 3,000 users between March and June.

The results have been encouraging. Most users report a positive experience using the dashboard, with high levels of satisfaction and a willingness to recommend it to others. Many have told us that seeing all their pensions in one place gave them a clearer sense of what they have and what it might be worth at retirement. Some have found pensions they had lost track of altogether.

We have also used this testing to make real refinements to the dashboard. For example, we have introduced a home button after some users told us they found it difficult to navigate, and we have updated how we present pensions that need action to reduce confusion. This kind of feedback loop is central to how we are building the service.

What has changed from 1 September

Testing has moved to a more streamlined and more immediate access model. Previously, prospective testers needed to complete a panel application and wait to be invited to take part. They now complete a shorter consent process and are given access to the MoneyHelper dashboard much more quickly.

This matters because the people you invite to test the dashboard, whether they are customers, members, employees or contacts, will get a smoother, quicker experience from the moment they express interest. That should make it easier for you to encourage participation and see the benefits of testing come through more quickly.

We are continuing to test with thousands of users each month, and we intend to build on these volumes gradually as we move towards launch. We are monitoring the number of users signing up for testing and have measures in place to control the traffic flow. We may delay sending links to ensure all parts of the ecosystem can cope with demand.

This measured approach means we can maintain a high-quality testing experience and gather robust insights at every stage, while keeping consumer safety and support at the forefront.

How you can help, and how your organisation benefits

If you are a pension provider, scheme, employer or other organisation, you can help shape the dashboard by inviting your audience to take part in testing. This can help surface issues specific to your data or scheme type, and it provides a chance to understand how your audience is likely to engage with dashboards once they go live. It also gives your contacts early, hands-on experience of a service they can continue to use in future, helping build familiarity and trust ahead of public launch.

To get involved, request our comms toolkit, which includes a ready-made email template, short copy and images you can use to invite your audience to take part.

If you work in the pensions industry, you can now sign up to test the dashboard yourself using the same process as consumers. We are also piloting a self-serve approach to industry expert testing, allowing pension providers, schemes and administrators to test the dashboard independently and check that their own data is displaying correctly. We will share more on this as the pilot develops.

Passing the beta Service Standard assessment

Alongside this testing progress, the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard recently passed its beta Service Standard assessment, receiving green ratings across all 14 standards assessed. This independent government review looked at how well the service meets user needs, its accessibility, security and whether it can be operated reliably at scale.

This is a significant vote of confidence in the work done so far, and confirms we remain on track as we continue testing and connection activity ahead of public launch, which on current plans is expected in the 2027/2028 financial year.

Get involved

Testing only works because of the support we get from across the pensions industry. Whether you are recruiting testers, testing the dashboard yourself, or simply sharing updates with your networks, your involvement helps us build a service that meets the needs of the people who will use it.
